To make sense of our lives, we need to understand how the system we operate in really works. Nature is beautiful, brutal and indifferent to our suffering. But we can still be glad to be a part of it.
Very interesting. We think that our lives must be self-activated or self-certified, and that our day to day choices matter so very much. Ego talking. There’s something powerful and liberating in the surrender to a much bigger natural system.
Thanks for this Craig, really lovely to be reminded of what I wrote a while ago! And lovely pictures too.
Thank Isabel. I highly recommend your book: The Natural Heath Service and our Desperately Seeking Wisdom podcast chat!
This most excellent essay instantly reminded me of a stanza from "Here It Is", a poem/song by Leonard Cohen:
"Here is your cart
Your cardboard and piss
And here is your love
For all of this"
Thanks Carolyn.
That’s a good one - Cohen got it too.
I hope you will keep reading and commenting.
Interesting and perceptive. No wild swans yet!
Wild Swans next week! When I focus on the positive aspects of accepting our place in the family of things 😀

Thanks Mike.
Next week I’m going to focus on the positive outcomes of doing this.
